Provider comparison

Official website or third-party provider?

There are two booking channels for the Colosseum: the official website of the Parco Archeologico del Colosseo and accredited third-party providers such as GetYourGuide and Tiqets. Both have clear advantages and disadvantages.

Official website
  • Cheapest price (18,00 EUR)
  • No service fee
  • Only in English, Italian, Spanish
  • Limited contingent, often sold out
  • No skip-the-line included
  • No free cancellation
GetYourGuide / Tiqets
  • Skip-the-Line included
  • Multilingual, easy booking
  • Own contingents - available even when sold out
  • Cancellation free of charge (usually up to 24 hours in advance)
  • Immediate confirmation by e-mail
  • Price higher than official

For most visitors, the surcharge with third-party providers is worth it: the time saved by skip-the-line (up to 3 hours waiting time in peak season) and the more reliable availability outweigh the price difference.

Frequently asked questions

Colosseum admission prices - Your questions answered

The official entrance fee is EUR 18.00 for adults (aged 25 and over). EU citizens between the ages of 18 and 24 pay a reduced price of EUR 2.00. Children and young people under the age of 18 are admitted free of charge. With third-party providers such as GetYourGuide, the price is slightly higher, but includes skip-the-line and audio guide. The Full Experience Ticket for the arena floor officially costs EUR 24.00.
Yes, every Colosseum ticket automatically includes access to the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill - at no extra charge. You only need to select a separate time slot for the Colosseum. You can visit the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill flexibly within 24 hours of first entry.
Third-party providers such as GetYourGuide and Tiqets charge a service fee and offer added value in return: skip-the-line access (entry without queuing, which saves up to 3 hours), audio guide included, own ticket contingents when the official website is sold out, free cancellation and multilingual customer service.
The Full Experience Ticket officially costs EUR 24.00 and also entitles you to enter the arena floor and visit the super sites in the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. It is highly recommended for first-time visitors and history fans - the view of the spectator stands from the arena floor is a unique experience. Please note: The official Full Experience tickets are extremely rarely available. Guided tours with arena access are often easier to book through third-party providers.
Yes, remaining tickets are sold daily at the ticket offices on site (Piazza del Colosseo and Largo della Salara Vecchia). In the high season, however, you can expect waiting times of 2 to 3 hours and certain time slots may already be sold out. If you are flexible and traveling outside the high season, you can try your luck - for reliable planning, we recommend booking online.
In the high season (April to October), we recommend booking 2 to 3 months in advance. The official website releases allotments approx. 6 weeks in advance. Third-party providers often allow bookings further in advance. Outside the high season (November to March), a booking a few days before the visit is often sufficient.
